The Tune Health Nutrition for Surgery Program informs you via SMS text concerning how well you conform to a predefined dietary requirement, such as those for an upcoming medical surgery. The program is currently under evaluation as a potential future product from Tune Health. If you are joining because of a request from your clinician or part of a dietary program, the clinician or program may provide specific nutritional requirements, which Tune Health will use to determine how well you are conforming. Otherwise, the nutritional requirements (i.e. daily protein goal) will be based on well-established dietary plans.

Once you opt into this program by filling out the form and pressing the black ‘Consent’ button, you will receive a confirmation SMS text message welcoming you to the program.

The welcome message will look as follows:

“Welcome to the Tune Health Nutrition for Surgery Program, and Congratulations on empowering yourself for the journey of surgery.  Ready to talk “protein”? Based on your registration input, you should aim for xx g of protein per day.  

Our program makes protein tracking easy.  You just take photos of the food you eat and send it to us here. We'll calculate and track your daily protein so you’ll always know where you’re at.  

Here are a few important reminders when taking a photo:

1. Take photos in good lighting

2. Hold camera about 1 foot away from food 

3. Spread food out on a regular sized plate

4. Please don’t stack food

 You may opt out of the program anytime by replying “STOP””

The program offers:

1. TOOLS …. Access to Tune (take photos of your food and we calculate protein) - once you register, you will receive a text from us and can begin sending photos of all your meals, and we will calculate your protein intake and keep you on track to hit your daily goal

2. COMMUNITY … Access to weekly group calls with Melissa Vasikauskas RDN and other individuals preparing for or recovering from surgery

The program will focus on:

✅ High-protein meals to improve strength and healing
✅ Improved micronutrient intake to support immune function, healing and protection

Your daily homework: Send us photos of the food you eat! 📸"

Following the welcome message, you will send photos of your meals using SMS text for the period of the program. Tune Health will return the following information in response:

• Nutritional information for the meal in the photo.

• Daily summary of your diet.

An example message if you texted a photo of your snack:

Foods identified on the plate (i.e. steak, potatoes, kale) 

> Estimate:  20g protein on plate 

> Today’s Progress 20g of 120g daily goal

> 100g protein left to achieve your daily goal

This is an example summary text you will receive at the end of each day in the program:

Your Nutrition Summary for the day: 

81g Protein (daily goal is 120g)

Tune Health may ask for additional information through SMS text, which you are not required to answer. You should not provide personal information. The number of messages will be kept to a minimum and only necessary to help you comply with dietary requirements.

You will send and receive text messages from the telephone number +15592062479.

You can opt out of the program anytime by texting STOP to the above telephone number. We will send you an SMS text confirmation that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS text messages from us. If you want to join again, sign up as you did the first time, and we will enter you into the program again.
